5 Mobile Apps Every Tech Director Needs
Do you remember in the 90s when your cellphone came preloaded with a limited number of apps? It came fully stocked with a phonebook, calculator, notepad, and a few games that paled in comparison to the games we see in this VR (virtual reality) world today. While apps have certainly evolved overtime, they still fulfill one of their basic purposes: accessibility.
I believe that mobile apps, at times, are highly underrated in Media Ministries. While there are some tasks that can only be fulfilled using a desktop computer, the evolution of the smartphone, has placed the desktop computer in our pockets. Having said that, here are 5 mobile apps that I believe every Media Director, Tech Director, Media Ministry worker, etc. should have on their smartphone.
Lightroom
Lightroom is an Adobe suite app for photo editing. While there are paid features to this app, they also offer a robust free mobile app version with powerful tools for photo editing. This app will help you edit and refine your photos and content. You can tweak your color and lighting, cover up blemishes, and even remove unwanted objects. This is the perfect app for on-the-go photo editing.
Vero
Many may not be familiar with Vero, but it is a social media app, launched it 2015, that is designed to connect people and foster online community. For some creatives, Vero is quickly becoming Instagram’s competitor because it eliminates the tricking algorithms and pesky ads and focuses solely on the content.
In recent months, Vero’s popularity has begun to surge again, and while it is unlikely to unseat the king that is Instagram, it’s a wonderful option to have at your fingertips. The interface is clean. You can create post about photos, website content, music, movies, books and more. Want to highlight something fun from your website? Vero is the app for that!
Canva
The majority of us are familiar with Canva, but Canva remains highly underrated. Canva is a free online design tool (with paid features) that makes it easy to design graphics, create powerpoint presentations, videos, pdf, etc. While I love all things tech and media, I DO NOT like to do graphics. I’m not very good at them and thanks to the AMAZING graphics designer that we have on staff, I rarely have to be bothered with them. But, there are times when I may have to produce a graphic in a pinch and Canva helps me to create amazing graphics. Their mobile app is user friendly and produces graphics that look professional and eye-catching. I wouldn’t be caught without this app in my pocket. Canva can make anyone look like a pro!
InShot
InShot is a mobile app that I recently learned about from a friend, and I am already in love with it. It’s is a video editor designed to take your photos, videos, and content to the next level. InShot has free and paid features that add effects and a professionally polished look all from a smartphone app. While InShot is not the only app of its kind, it’s one that I’ve found to be less clunky and does not distract from the creative process with unnecessary, gaudy effects. Adding this app to your arsenal of creative tools is a must!
Dropbox
No tech leader should be caught without the Dropbox app. This popular cloud based storage service gives users the ability to store documents, pictures, videos, and other files over servers that can be accessed via any internet device. The Dropbox app gives you on-demand access to your files anytime, anywhere. This is another invaluable app that can place your most invaluable content in your pocket and at your fingertips. With this app, you’ll always be ready for that phone call from your pastor or boss asking for a specific file from 3 years ago. Trust me…I know! 😂
